Fuel Poverty

The cost of living crisis affects us all. When we pay our bills, go shopping, or count how much money we have left at the end of the month, we feel it.
Some people – the low-paid, those with little support, and those with little or no savings – will feel it worse than others. And as the year grows old and winter approaches, the problem of heating your home adequately can become disproportionate.

In England, a household is considered to be in fuel poverty if:

A 2016 report* identified Birchfield as having higher levels of fuel poverty than many areas across the UK.

Help and Advice

An energy advisor can help you control the costs of your energy bills by analysing your financial situation, the energy consumption of you and your family and the energy efficiency of your home.

Assessing the Situation

Several factors contribute to the cost of your energy bills, including whether you have home insulation and double glazing, the type of water heating and central heating installed in your home, the company supplying your energy, and the kind of tariff the energy company has put you on.

In addition to this, there is how and when, and how much energy you and your family use when heating rooms, taking a shower and in other activities.

Then there are your personal circumstances. Do you qualify for any help or subsidies? If so, have you applied for them? This can sometimes be a challenging process!

Cutting Those Costs

By gathering all of this information, the energy advisor and you can formulate a plan to cut your costs and increase your energy efficiency. A nice by product of becoming more energy efficient is that it’s kinder to the planet, which is something we should all aspire to be.

Over to You

Are your bills high?
Do your gas and/or electricity meter readings make little sense?
Would you like to make your home and your daily routine more energy efficient
Do you think you may need to change your energy supplier or your tariff?
