Come along and meet your local councillors at the Lozells and East Handsworth Ward Committee meeting on:

 Wednesday 5th October 2011 at 7.00 p.m.

at Welford Primary School, Welford Road, B20 2BL.

This meeting will be attended by a representative of AMEY, who are responsible for taking care of streets through a contract with Birmingham City Council. There will also be an update from the Neighbourhood Police on tackling local issues, especially ongoing problems that need to be tackled by a range of agencies. There will also be an update on progress with the My Place Young People’s facility in the area.

Loud and Proud! Talent Show in Lozells 27/8/11 3pm to 6pm

An event taking place at Lozells Methodist Church Centre, on the corner of Gerrard St and Lozells St this Saturday 27th August from 3pm to 6pm.

They are looking for performers – a great chance to showcase your talent and compete for some great prizes!

Uprising Young Leaders programme 2011/12 – Applications open now!

The UpRising Leadership Programme is dedicated to supporting and developing young adults aged 19-25 from diverse backgrounds in order to become the next generation of effective and connected leaders across the public, private and voluntary sectors. We are recruiting 50 young people in Birmingham, 40 in  East London and 20 in Bedford.

UpRising (www.uprising.org.uk) was developed and launched by the Young Foundation in 2008 in East London. UpRising has worked with over 200 young adults over the past three years in London and we expanded to Birmingham in October 2010. We are expanding into Bedford in September 2011.

Our patrons are Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and Leader of the Labour Party Ed Miliband.

We are recruiting for our programme which starts in October 2011. We are looking for young people who are enthusiastic, passionate and committed to changing their communities for the better. We are recruiting 50 young people within Birmingham to take part.
