Good governance lies at the heart of a well run voluntary or community organisation that operates in a responsible, organised way and that best serves the community that it seeks to benefit.

The Birmingham Leadership Foundation, with Anthony Collins solicitors and HW Controls and Assurance are offering a free day of practically based training for those involved in running community or voluntary organisations, or those seriously considering starting one.

Good Governance for Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations

11am to 4pm on Tuesday 20th September

  • What is Governance and why does it matter for voluntary and community sector organisations?
  • Being distinctive: Governing documents, collaboration, the Equalities Act.
  • How can charities ensure their resources are utilised effectively?
  • Risk Management.
  • The role of financial and social reporting: The limitations of external audit; How should Trustees use their annual statements? How should you audit your auditor?
  • Audit Committees and Internal Audit: What are the fundamentals of an effective Audit Committee? What makes a good internal framework?
  • How should the Board be set up?
  • What is effective decision making? Common problems and their solutions.

FLIP TRAINING WORKSHOPS

FREE half day training run by podnosh to give you the skills for Social Reporting. The training will:-

  • Provide you with the skills to use a Flip camera (provided)
  • Help gain experience in how to interview others
  • Give you confidence to carry out some Social Reporting in Birmingham

Dates: Wednesday 22nd September, 2 – 4.30 pm or Tuesday 28th September, 5.30 – 8 pm
