The Tidy Britain campaign and Birmingham City Council have published a report on the states of the streets in Birchfield – a snapshot taken of 60 sites in the neighbourhood on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th November 2009.

The Environmental Quality Report for Birchfield Priority Neighbourhood (click here Birchfield Priority Neighbourhhood EQS 11122009 to download a pdf) plots in some detail a range of issues, from fly-tipping to graffiti and weeds.  These tie in with plans for the neighbourhood.  The image below gives an over view of how well we’re doing in different categories of streets and types of problems.  Where it’s green that’s good, pale green satisfactory, yellow unsatisfactory and red poor.

The reports summary is a little jargony but here you go:

In relation to the NI195 calculation of the 4 main LEQ Elements. Litter, Detritus,
Graffiti and Fly-posting:

4.1.1 Litter scored 1.67% compared to a city-wide target of 3.60% and so is
performing better than the current target.
4.1.2 Detritus scored 2.50% compared to a city-wide target of 8.65% and so is
performing better than the current target.
4.1.3 Graffiti scored 5.83% compared to a city-wide target of 10% and so is
performing better than the current target.
4.1.4 Fly-posting scored 0.00% compared to a city wide target of 0.84% and
